Cuyahoga County introduces new Office of Small Business

Cuyahoga County has recently established a new Office of Small Business under the Department of Development. According to Chris Ronayne, Cuyahoga County Executive, small businesses are crucial for the growth of the county’s workforce and economy. To make it easier for small business owners to access resources and strengthen their networks, an Office of Small Business was created. By attracting more entrepreneurs to the area and tapping into opportunities available in cities and neighborhoods, the office seeks to promote economic development.

Cuyahoga County is home to over 30,000 small businesses employing nearly 300,000 residents with an annual payroll of close to $18 billion. The Office of Small Business aims to facilitate connections and collaborations between businesses and various stakeholders in the county, including local chambers of commerce, trade associations, and industry leaders. It will serve as a one-stop shop for business owners looking to grow their networks, expand their workforce, explore financial opportunities, access educational services and benefit from peer support resources.

Vaughn Johnson, deputy director for economic development highlighted the critical need for resources dedicated to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs within the Department of Development. The Office of Small Business will take a proactive approach towards enhancing initiatives that improve owning a small business experience in Cuyahoga County. Through partnerships with key organizations, it will connect new businesses with vital resources such as capital opportunities procurement contracting services.
