Hamas has announced that they will be traveling to Cairo on Saturday to continue discussions on a truce offer with Israel and work towards reaching an agreement. Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and the United States are waiting for Hamas’ response to the truce offer submitted in April, which includes a pause in the Israeli offensive and the release of Palestinian detainees in exchange for hostages kidnapped during a previous attack by Hamas.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given Hamas until Wednesday to respond to the offer. Hamas has accused Netanyahu of obstructing efforts for a ceasefire, further complicating the situation. The conflict between Hamas and Israel escalated following an attack on southern Israel by Hamas commandos, resulting in a large number of casualties on both sides.
