Helena Breweries Enter the ‘World Beer Cup’ Competition

Two Helena breweries recently received awards at the World Beer Cup, raising the bar for craft beer in the area. Lewis and Clark Brewing Company won gold with their Miner’s Gold Hefeweizen American wheat beer. This award-winning beer is the first brew from Lewis and Clark Brewing Company and has now won gold at the World Beer Cup twice. Owner Max Pigman expressed his pride in his team for their dedication to quality and consistency in creating this beer, which has a cloudy citrus flavor and is 5% alcohol. Pigman believes Miner’s Gold is a great go-to beer for any occasion.

Over 2,000 breweries submitted over 9,000 beers for the World Beer Cup, with judges awarding around 300 prizes in 100 categories. Copper Furrow Brewing, another Helena brewery, took home a bronze award for their Tmavé international dark lager. This was the first time Copper Furrow Brewing won a medal at the World Beer Cup, and head brewer Nick Diehl emphasized the significance of the recognition from expert beer judges. Tmavé is a dark Czech lager with a rich and slightly roasted taste, similar to a pilsner but with more complexity. Diehl is the sole brewer at Copper Furrow Brewing, making the win even more rewarding for him.

In addition to Lewis and Clark Brewing Company and Copper Furrow Brewing, two other Montana breweries also won bronze awards at the World Beer Cup: Sacred Brewing Company in Kalispell and MAP Brewing Company in Bozeman. These awards showcase the high quality and diverse range of craft beer being produced in Montana.
