Pact Group awarded with prestigious Circular Economy Award

Pact has been honored with the Circular Economy Award at this year’s Chemistry Australia Industry Awards for their innovative plan to recycle millions of used milk bottles annually. The company collects used milk bottles and other dairy containers from household recycling bins and processes them at the Circular Plastics Australia (CPA) mixed plastics recycling plant in Melbourne.

The CPA facility, a joint venture with Cleanaway Waste Management, opened earlier this year and is capable of recycling up to 20,000 tonnes of used high density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) packaging annually. This translates to around half a billion 2L milk bottles being recycled. The recycled resin will be used at Pact’s packaging manufacturing facilities in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, which are being upgraded to incorporate more recycled content in the production of HDPE milk bottles.

Congratulations were extended to the team at the CPA recycling plant, as well as the packaging manufacturing teams across Australia, who are instrumental in the process. Sales Manager Geoff Harvey accepted the prestigious award on behalf of Pact, while the sales team and customers celebrated the achievement at the awards event.
