Richard Tugman has been named as the interim president and CEO of Centra Health in Lynchburg, Virginia. Tugman, who has been serving as the CEO of Piedmont Community Health Plan since 2016, previously held this position at Centra in 2021. Thomas Nygaard, M.D., Chair of Centra’s Board of Directors, expressed gratitude to Amy Carrier for her contributions to the organization and wished her success in her future endeavors.
Centra Health is a subsidiary of Centra, and Tugman’s prior experience with the organization gives the board confidence that he will effectively lead Centra during this transition period. A transition committee has been appointed to advise Tugman in his new role. The board looks forward to working with Tugman as they search for a new, permanent CEO to lead the organization in the future.
Tugman’s deep understanding of the organization and its people makes him well-suited to lead Centra while a national search for a permanent CEO is conducted. The announcement was made on Thursday, with Nygaard expressing gratitude to Amy Carrier for her contributions to Centra and wishing her success in her future endeavors.
