Nearly 15,000 new businesses have been added to North Carolina so far this year, with the state’s Secretary of State’s Office reporting a resurgence in new businesses after a decline during the pandemic. One of these thriving new businesses is The Flavor Hills, a restaurant with locations in Raleigh and Jacksonville.
Chef Morgan Teianne and her three partners opened the second location of The Flavor Hills in the heart of Raleigh, where it has been a success since its opening in January. Teianne draws inspiration from her father and late grandmother to sell and perfect Southern cuisine, originally from Washington, D.C., she caters to all demographics and has received admiration for her food from many.
The Fayetteville Street location has been popular reflecting the popularity of their original location in Jacksonville. Teianne advocates for other Black-owned businesses to come to downtown Raleigh for support and collaboration. Having operated the Jacksonville location for three years and the Raleigh location since January, Teianne and her partners are already considering opening another location in Charlotte by the end of the year. Their goal is to create a space where everyone can come to eat, laugh, and drink, contributing to the approximately 3,000 new business creation filings in Mecklenburg County this year.
