The sports talk program at MSU radio station ranked as the top in the nation

Mississippi State students at WMSV radio station won first place in the nation for Best Sports Talk Program at the 2024 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System convention in New York City. The three broadcasters, Elizabeth Keen, Tanner Marlar, and Aaliyan Mohammed, were recognized for their program “Maroon and White Tonight.”

The Department of Communication at Mississippi State University is proud of the students’ accomplishment. The program was created, produced, and hosted by the students after taking a pilot class in sports announcing. The department head, Terry Likes, commended them for their initiative.

In addition to the award for Best Sports Talk Program, there were three additional finalists from Mississippi State University at the IBS convention. Olivia Beck was a finalist for Best Newscast, and Amelia Middleton was recognized for Best Campus/Community News. The MSU TV Center was also a finalist for Best Commercial/Promotion.

The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System is an organization that supports college and high school media outlets. This year, they received over 3,000 entries for their annual competition.
