A 61-year-old driver from Kingsport, Tennessee accidentally crashed her car into a Waffle House in Wytheville on Wednesday morning. The incident happened at 3:47 a.m. at 1,400 East Main St. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the crash. This is the third time in recent years that a vehicle has collided with a business in the town.
In February of this year, two people were injured when a 71-year-old woman mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal and drove her Ford Taurus through the front of Wytheville’s Dollar Tree store. In another incident in 2023, a 92-year-old woman also mistakenly drove into the Dollar Tree store but no injuries were reported. Despite these occurrences, efforts are being made to ensure public safety and prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.
According to Robin Noe, she was attempting to park her car in front of Waffle House when her foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator, causing the car to crash through the glass and into the building. Police were called to investigate but found no evidence of impairment and did not press charges considering it as a private property incident to be settled by insurance companies.
