The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will feature the top 10 women’s cricket teams from around the world competing for the title. The teams have been divided into two groups, with India and Pakistan in Group A alongside six-time winners Australia, New Zealand, and Qualifier 1. Group B consists of hosts Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Qualifier 2.
The qualifiers for the tournament will emerge from the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with the top two teams making the final on May 7 securing the last two spots in the main event. Group A matches will take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet, while Group B matches will be held at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for May 17 and 18, with the final set to be held at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on October 20. The tournament kicks off with last edition’s runners-up South Africa facing England in the opening match on October 3, with India beginning their campaign against New Zealand the following day and facing Australia on October 13.
India reached the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 but were defeated by the hosts, Australia. In the 2023 edition, they were knocked out in the semi-finals again by Australia. A total of 23 matches will be played over the course of the 18-day tournament.
