Mikey Eyssimont of Lightning selected for Team USA in World Championships

Tampa — Lightning forward Mikey Eyssimont has been selected to play for Team USA in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships for the second consecutive year. Eyssimont was one of nine players named to the Team USA roster on Sunday morning. The championships will take place in Czechia and will run from Friday through May 26.

Last year, Eyssimont contributed a goal and two assists in nine games as part of Team USA’s fourth-place finish at worlds. The previous year’s U.S. team made history by winning its first eight games. Hailing from Littleton, Colorado, Eyssimont will join the team in Bratislava, where they are currently training. Team USA’s first game will be against Sweden in Ostrava on Friday as part of the eight preliminary-round games. Some games will be aired on NHL Network.

Eyssimont is coming off a standout season, where he became a full-time NHL player for the first time with the Lightning at age 27. He achieved career highs with 11 goals and 25 points while predominantly playing on the team’s third line. His 135 hits ranked third on the team, showcasing his strong two-way game grounded in solid forechecking. Eyssimont was also the Lightning’s nominee for this year’s Bill Masterton Trophy, awarded to a player who exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to the game.
