Arglass makes second investment in Zippe batch plant technology for glass production

Arglass and Zippe are teaming up for the construction of Arglass’s second plant in Valdosta, USA. The project is scheduled for installation in December 2024 and will be commissioned in the second quarter of 2025. This partnership is aimed at improving operational efficiency and sustainability through the use of modern technology.

At the center of this collaboration is the Zippe batch plant, specially designed to meet the requirements of modern glass production. With a daily capacity of 495 tons for the second furnace, the system is customized for optimal handling of raw materials, pre-mixing, and batch transport processes.

The modular design of the batch plant will seamlessly integrate into Arglass’s existing infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime during the installation and commissioning phases. Key features of the batch plant include mechanical raw material feeding mechanisms like truck and train unloading systems equipped with vibratory tray feeders and elevators. The silo system can store up to 10 raw materials, with the largest silo having a volume of 500m3.

Moreover, Arglass is emphasizing sustainability by implementing a cullet return system. This system, designed to support four IS machines, includes scraping conveyors, crushers, falling tubes, and conveyor belts to facilitate the efficient recycling of glass cullet. The integration of Zippe’s ZMART intelligent scraping conveyor control system will optimize conveyor speed based on gob weight and quantity, reducing wear and energy consumption.
