This weekend, NASCAR is taking over Richmond Raceway with two national series in action. On Friday, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour teams will kick off the weekend with a busy day of practice, qualifying, and racing at the .75-mile Virginia track. Trackhouse Racing drivers Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain will be looking to secure the team’s second win of the season at Richmond.
On Saturday, the Xfinity teams will continue their season with a busy day of practice, qualifying, and racing at Richmond. Cup teams will also be in action on Saturday, practicing and qualifying in preparation for Sunday’s primetime race. The weather for the weekend looks promising with mostly sunny skies and a high of 67 degrees on Friday, a cloudy day with a high of 71 degrees on Saturday, and a high of 70 degrees on Sunday with a 33% chance of rain at the start of the Cup race.
Last season, Chandler Smith won the Xfinity race at Richmond while Kyle Larson won the spring Cup race. On Saturday, the garage will open at 6:30 a.m. for Xfinity Series activities and at 8 a.m. for Cup Series activities. Track activities for the day include Xfinity practice and qualifying as well as Cup practice and qualifying. The Xfinity race featuring 250 laps totaling 187.5 miles will take place at 1:30 p.m., while Sunday’s primetime race consisting of 400 laps totaling 300 miles will begin at 7 p.m., broadcasted on Fox, Motor Racing Network
