The Doenges Ford Indians will be hosting tryouts in downtown Bartlesville on May 16th, signifying the start of summer. This marks the 83rd year of the team’s existence, with John Pannell returning as the manager for his 15th season overall. Bartlesville finished 15-17-1 last year and will field a 19-and-under team this summer.
Despite the trend of high school players choosing travel baseball or larger metro area teams, Pannell believes playing for the Indians offers a unique experience that helps players grow. Tryouts will begin at 7:00 on May 16th at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium, with the season opener scheduled for the Memorial Day weekend.
The Indians will also make trips to Arkansas and participate in the Glen Winget Tournament at home, in addition to regular season games. Fans can catch updates on Indian’s baseball on KWON and KWONTV.com throughout the summer.
