The revived AFL loses Iowa Rampage

The Iowa Rampage, a team in the Arena Football League, has decided to discontinue operations, signaling potential troubles for the reboot of the league. In a press release on Thursday, the team owners blamed AFL Commissioner Lee Hutton and the league as a whole for not fulfilling promises made to them. Issues such as delayed delivery of football equipment, jerseys, and camp gear, as well as the NFL Network backing out of televising games, were cited as reasons for the decision.

The owners, Trevor Burdett and Mike Taliaferro, expressed disappointment in the failure of the league to support the revival of the AFL and the impact it has had on players across the United States. They stated that they did not take the decision lightly, but felt they had no other choice but to discontinue operations immediately due to the lack of promised support from the league.

Following the announcement from the Rampage owners, the AFL removed the team from the online roster of teams, leaving the league with 15 franchises. The future of the Arena Football League remains uncertain, as the issues with the Rampage highlight potential challenges facing the league’s revival efforts.
